Data Recovery- Quantum Hard Drive Scorned
Discussed in this video
Today’s video post is just to show an example of a harddrive that was left running for too long. The read/write heads obviously completely failed and completely wore down to metal.
Now, basically what happens is, those heads will just touch down on the surface of the platters and once this happens it creates scorning or scratching on the surface of those platters.
Now I’ll just slowly zoom in on an area where you can see the damaged that has been caused by the read/write Heads. As you can see there’s a clear scorn in the landing area of the harddrive, in this case data recovery will be fairly impossible to do.
I’ll just move across the platter where you can actually see some more damage on the outer section of that platter.
Now I will just start this drive up just to emphasize the noise that a drive makes when it actually fails mechanically. Now if this noise gets heard, the best thing to do is, just to shut the drive down, unplug it from your system and to obviously call a data recovery specialist like MVI Data Recovery.
As you can tell the drive is seriously damaged and cannot initialize at all. Even if we did replace these heads, what will happen is the drive will start up and those heads will get damaged instantly as soon as we try to remove any data from this disc.
So that’s just another video post demonstrating what to do when you hear a harddrive making unusual clicking or crunching noises. Really just shut the drive down and call a specialist like MVI Data Recovery.
