Power surges, viruses or accidental data deletion need not be catastrophic. Ask us. Data retrieval by a logical fix is our speciality.
Logical Recovery
During logical hard drive data recovery, MVI rebuilds files that have been damaged, deleted or corrupted by user error or virus attack, as opposed to repairing hard disks that are physically damaged. In this situation the BIOS still recognises the drive, but returns a read error when trying to access data.
Logical damage can be caused when power surges prevent the structures of a file from being written to your storage media. As a result, the file system floats in an incoherent state. These errors can occur to a fixed drive, dynamic memory on a device, or the floppy and zip disk.
You will require logical software recovery when you encounter problems with the stability of your operating system. The following are indicators:
• Data in files, folders or even a whole partition vanishes.
• Data is accessible but incorrect
• Drives report a negative amount of free space.
• Your whole system crashes.
MVI Data Recovery utilises two main methods when dealing with logical format recovery. The first is 'consistency checking', which involves inspecting the logical structure of the medium for irregularities and repairing any damages found. This is a relatively simple process, and has a 99% recovery rate. In most file systems, a directory has both a dot (.) and a dot-dot (..) entry that points to its parent file. During a logical fix on a computer’s data, the recovery program will simply read each directory and ensure that these entries exist and point to the correct places in the file system.
The second technique is to effectively rebuild the entire file system using undamaged file structures that have been left behind. This 'raw recovery' involves scanning the damaged medium and making note of all the file-system structures, in order to rebuild the system from scratch. This process is significantly more time consuming than consistency checking, but still leads to successful recoveries.
MVI Data Recovery is equipped to recover hard disk drives (HDDs) on Macs and PCs that use NT file systems (NTFS), and can retrieve data that is lost through damaged partitions, recycle bins, overwritten information or during SCSI or compact flash transitions. MVI’s immaculate data restoration applies to shareware and freeware data recovery, so contact us today for a free assessment of your data retrieval.
